AAVA is our new Virtual Assistant available to all students providing you 24/7 access to support with Assessment Adjustments.

If something unexpected affects your ability to complete an assessment or make a deadline, the University offers Assessment Adjustments to help you stay on track.

AAVA is restricted to drawing information from official University sources. This means that you can be confident that it is providing you with information specific to the 麻豆传媒.

AAVA can only help with questions relating to submitting your Assessment Adjustments request relating to challenges you may have staying on track with your studies.

What can I ask AAVA?

You can ask AAVA for support with Assessment Adjustment requests. AAVA can currently ONLY assist with Assessment Adjustment questions.

How does AAVA work?

AAVA is a virtual assistant digital tool based on the knowledge articles available on knowledge bank and Essentials the student website.

The LLM (Large Language Model) used to enable the tool is a ring-fenced LLM. A ring-fenced LLM is a large language model that operates within a secure and isolated environment, ensuring that no third-party has access to the model's data. AAVA can learn from your responses and your chat history. No third party is able to access that chat history without the strict permission of the 麻豆传媒 and that data is never shared outside of our secure environment. Your data is stored in compliance with data protection regulations and will never be sold or used to train other AI models.

Does AAVA only respond in English?

Please only chat with AAVA in English. Sometimes AAVA can pick up on other languages, but we cannot guarantee the accuracy of any translation if conversing in other language.

How reliable is AAVA?

AAVA is restricted to drawing information from official university sources and uses a trusted, ring-fenced LLM (Large Language Model) to hold conversations. This means that you can be confident that it is providing you with secure current information specific to the 麻豆传媒.

What if AAVA is unable to help me with an Assessment Adjustment request?

Most AI tools are designed to always respond regardless of how confident they are in the accuracy of their answer. So, they are more likely to give a best guess rather than answer 100% factually.
We have reduced the confidence thresholds on AAVA to ensure a higher likelihood of a correct answer. This means that if AAVA is not confident in providing a correct answer, it will present a natural sense of uncertainty rather than guessing. This may be expressed in an 'I don't know' response.
